Recipe: Banana Boats

We made these awesome little treats, banana boats, at Girl Scout camp over the campfire.

Ingredients:
Bananas
Chocolate (bars, chips, candy melts)
Aluminum foil
Plastic spoon
Campfire grate

Take a banana and peel back only one part of the peel, do not detach. Take a plastic spoon and make a trench down the exposed part of the banana, it does not have to be very deep, just enough to put the chocolate in. Lay a few pieces, 3 or 4, of chocolate in the trench. Replace the banana skin. Wrap the banana in foil and lay on the campfire grate. Let the banana get warm on one side before turning. Cook until desired mushiness. Unwrap, peel back the one piece of banana skin and dig in.

All the moms decided these would also be good with marshmallows, peanut butter chips, nuts, and many other toppings, use your imagination and make them your own creation!

  1. Banana boats were the biggest thing ever when I was doing the summer camp counselor thing in the late 90s. Thanks for the blast from the past!
